National praise for local company helping to drive down carbon emissions
A North Yorkshire company has received national recognition for helping to drive down carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty.
Northallerton-based Align Property Partners’ sustainability experts, architects, building surveyors and engineers have delivered over £500 million worth of projects across the UK.
This includes designing the new Oakbridge Church of England Primary School in Northallerton, which was built by Hobson & Porter, and a modern multi-faith chapel at Darlington Crematorium which opened in 2023.
The team has also provided specialist energy-saving advice to local homeowners, tenants, businesses and other organisations.
Align’s commitment to driving decarbonisation saw them sweep to success at the North East Energy Efficiency Awards in May, winning two awards – and now their measures have been highlighted as national best practice.
The company has been shortlisted for National Energy Consultancy of the Year at the National Energy Efficiency Awards, which will be held in Birmingham on Friday (October 11).

Among the energy-saving projects being supported by Align, owned by North Yorkshire Council, is the rollout of the Government’s Home Upgrade Grant.
The second phase of the grant (HUG2) saw £14.5 million awarded to North Yorkshire Council to help deliver energy improvements to homes in the county and save residents money on their bills.
The scheme will see worst-affected properties that are not on mains gas, have poor quality insulation or inefficient heating systems receive a range of improvements including better insulation and air source heat pumps.
Salix Finance has been tasked with delivering the scheme on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
